The Client Brief.

 

One of our major e-commerce clients tasked us with crafting and executing an email marketing campaign to boost sales around the launch of their summer products.

The objective was simple – reward the loyal mailing list customers with an unmissable offer, which would in-turn drive online sales.

Our Approach.

Define Goals.
We sat down and clearly defined the goals and desired outcomes with the client. This helped us tailor the email content and design to achieve the desired results.

 

Build Segmented Email Lists.
We created unique segments such as “loyal customers”, “recent additions”, and those interested in certain products to enable us to personalise emails and increase the chances of conversion.

 

Craft Compelling Subject Lines.
The subject line is the single most important line in any email, so we made sure they were extremely enticing and immediately to the topic point.

 

Curate Engaging Email Content.
We created an email campaign that is visually appealing, mobile-friendly and easy to read. While also using eye-catching images, call-to-action buttons, and concise but persuasive copy.

 

Create a Sense of Urgency.
We created copy to convey the limited-time nature of the offer and the huge savings that were there to be made. We try to encourage customers to act quickly to secure the best deals and avoid missing out!

 

Send Multiple Emails.
Don’t underestimate the power of “primer” and follow-up emails! For this particular campaign we sent three emails; a “primer” to let people know a sale is coming, the sale email itself, and a reminder email towards the end of the sale.

The Results.

This particular campaign ended up being a huge success for our client, with some of the results showing;

– An 65.3% increase in online revenue when comparing to the previous month. It actually generated as much as the previous two months combined!

– There was an increase of 120% in the number of orders made on the client’s website that could be directly attributed to the sale emails, when compared to the previous month.

– The emails achieved an average open rate of 44.3% – with this industry’s average being around 18.4%.

– The emails achieved an average click-through rate of 13.5% – with this industry’s average being around 2.25%.
